Job Title: Precision Toolmaker
Location: Wigan
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 39 hours/week


  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Friday: 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM

  • Regular overtime available, paid at time and a half

Hourly Rate:


£17.00 - £18.00 per hour (dependent on experience and candidate calibre)


  • Reviewed after 3 months

  • Annual salary review thereafter

Role Overview:


We are currently seeking a highly skilled Time-Served Toolmaker to join our precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, machining, and assembly of Injection and Blow Mould Tools. You will be working from engineering drawings and 3D models to produce high-precision components using manual machines and hand tools.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manufacture and assemble Injection and Blow Mould Tools to exacting standards

  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings and computer models

  • Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders

  • Perform high-precision bench work and fitting

  • Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure tools meet specification and performance requirements

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of materials, machining processes, and assembly methods

Requirements:


  • Time-served apprenticeship in a precision engineering environment (essential)

  • Extensive experience with manual milling, turning, grinding, and tool fitting

  • Proven background in toolmaking, ideally in the Blow or Injection mould industry (preferred, but not essential)

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerancing

  • Excellent hand-finishing and bench-fitting skills

  • High attention to detail and quality control

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
