We're ready for GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) deadline will soon be upon us, 25th May 2018 to be exact. We have been busy in the background preparing our website to be compliant.  What this means for you is that you are entirely in control of your data and how you would like us to use it.

So let's start at the beginning - what is GDPR?

In a nutshell, it's all about how we collect, use and store your data. The EU GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act (DPA) and is designed to unify data privacy laws across Europe. GDPR aims to provide EU citizens better rights to data privacy and to improve the way organisations approach data privacy. It's your right after all.

So what have we done?

The first thing is an updated Privacy and Cookies policy, which will be continually updated and version controlled.  When you register a new account with us on our website, it will ask you to agree to these policies. You can also tick these if you already have an account.

You will also see once you have registered with us, (or have an account) there are a couple of new options displayed in your candidate dashboard.

The right to erasure (right to be forgotten (RTBF)

  • This is the right for individuals to have personal data erased.
  • The right to be forgotten enables you to request the deletion of personal data if there is no compelling reason for its continued processing.

If you request RTBF, you will be presented with the following screen, which will direct you through the process.

Once submitted you will return to your candidate dashboard where it will state that the request has been logged, along with an email acknowledgment.

The right of access (Subject Access Request or SAR)

You have the right to be aware of and verify the lawfulness of the processing. This means you can request that your data is being processed and have full access to your data.  If you request SAR, you will be presented with the following screen, which will direct you through the process.

Finely Tune your job alerts/preferences/personal information

Once you have set up your candidate dashboard, you can, of course, request these options whenever you like and edit in real time, including if you've already registered with us. For example, you may want to add your image, edit your account details or update your cv. You can also at any time update and amend your job alert preferences - how often you receive them or unsubscribe altogether.
