In line with the steady growth of our clients business, the position of a Design Draughtsperson is being created.

This position will be mainly based in offices in Wigan but will involve travelling around sites in the UK to carry out site surveys and discuss projects with clients.

The position will be primarily designing and producing manufacturing drawings for machinery and ancillary equipment relating to the animal feed industry (E.g., conveyor systems, belt and bucket elevators, pneumatic valves, storage silos, cyclones, structural steelwork, fire escapes, access ladders, ducting and a wide variation of general fabrication and sheet-metal work products)

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the design team on larger projects or individually on smaller jobs.

  • Liaise Directly with The Client from Initial Concept to Installation of the Finished Product.

  • Conduct site visits and surveys, when required.

  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings.

  • Liaise directly with our manufacturing/assembly/installation colleagues.

  • Produce detailed site installation drawings.

  • Produce detailed BOM's.

  • Ordering parts, components, and materials from the supplier

  • Maintain standard part library.

  • Ensure designs meet current UK machinery standards.


  • AutoCAD Inventor experience a must.

  • Previous design experience within sheet metal industries is preffered

  • Understanding of construction and fabrication methods (Sheetmetal, structural etc.)

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to work on your own initiative.

  • Good planning and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work to deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

  • Proven ability in problem solving.

  • Reliable and trustworthy.

  • Must hold a full UK Driving Licence

This is an onsite role working 40 hours a week, where the right candidate will receive a salary between £25-£30k.
