Fabrication shop manager
Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Fabrication shop manager based in Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds.
Your duties will include the management, planning, organisation and administration of daily activities within a busy fabrication shop and activities carried out by its employees.
Ideal candidates will have previous experience working within the Structural steel and heavy plate fabrication industry.
Key responsibilities.
- Lead by example in all aspects of QHSE management, and ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with QHSE management system requirements.
- Maintaining discipline within the shop in line with general guidance from the latest version of the Employee Handbook.
- Allocation of work to suitably qualified individuals.
- Ensure quality inspections are carried out and that records are produced in line with quality requirements.
- Work is complete to program and within budget.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Ensuring that adequate plant and equipment is available and regularly maintained in accordance with statutory requirements/suppliers' recommendations;
- Attending internal launch, technical and progress meetings.
- Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required.
- Liaising with Senior Draughtsmen to ensure fabrication drawings are presented and issued with enough detail to allow most economical and safe fabrication methods and techniques can be utilised.
People management.
- Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in all forms of communication with company employees.
- Mentor and coach work personnel including apprentices to enhance their career and professional development.
Relationship Management
- Work collaboratively internally with all departments.
- Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, when there is a risk which could prevent the organisation meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns.
- Build, maintain and manage relationships externally with all stakeholders and ensure good communication.
In return you can expect a salary between £45k - £50K per annum (dependant on experience ) plus benefits.
