Why should you use a recruitment agency?

Recruitment Agency

We are having a lot of conversations with employers and business owners who are reopening and looking to get the hiring wheel turning again as lockdown eases. Some are, understandably, sceptical about increasing spend now and we find ourselves hearing the same two questions,

"Why should we use a recruitment agency?" and "Could we not save the money and just do it ourselves?"

We know that recruiting new employees can be a costly and time-consuming process; one that takes up both time that could be spent on other key tasks and resources; it also does not guarantee results.

The team at Employment Solutions wanted to shed a little light on the plus side of teaming up with a recruitment agency in your hiring efforts.

We know that top talent is hard to come by, and employers know that making a bad hire can cost their business a hefty sum.

That's where your recruitment agency comes in.

When skilled workers are short, as they often can be in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, employers often seek support with their hiring efforts from recruitment agencies. We take all the pain of headhunting candidates or filtering through hundreds of applications, arranging interviews, advertising your jobs and providing feedback to those that aren't successful.

But why use a recruitment agency for your recruitment, what is the benefit?

Saving you time and money

There are several reasons why you should use a recruitment agency and how it can help you save your time and minimise effort in your search for the best talent and help fill your niche jobs. You will save countless working hours spent sifting through applications, arranging interviews, onboarding candidates and giving feedback.

Some recruitment agencies can also offer payroll services so your contract staff can be paid directly by them, providing a flexible workforce, which will save you money should you ever need to make redundancies in the future.

A consultative approach

A recruitment agency will be able to offer expert knowledge on your sector, the candidates in it and the current state of the market. After all, they do spend all day speaking to both businesses and candidates in that sector.

Tapping into this information, your recruiter should be able to offer you expert insights into candidate availability and salary and pay variants.

The last thing that you want to be doing as an employer is getting to the end of the recruitment process, having identified the candidate that you want to offer the role to, only to find that you are a million miles apart on salary. Recruiters should be able to advise you on the right salary band for the role you are advertising and also present a fully vetted shortlist of candidates that fall into that bracket, avoiding and messing about, going back and forth on salary, down the line.

A recruiter will be able to offer solutions to improve your recruitment processes and candidate retention levels, all of which can save you money down the line.

Extending your reach

Recruiters will have access to pools of talent that you may not be able to reach. As well as having their database of expertise, they will have access to the major job boards and usually their own recruitment website.

Your recruiter will also advertise your vacancies for you on the job boards, social media, and their website. This is all part of the service, which unless they operate on a retained model, is free of charge until a candidate is placed.

It is a recruitment agency's job not only to stick your advert up online but to actively seek out candidates who match your job description and would be a good fit for your company. This will include passive talent that may not be actively looking so may not have seen your vacancy.

Choosing the right recruiter

Employment Solutions are a specialist engineering and manufacturing recruitment business that has been operating for close to two decades. Our recruiters have, on average, ten years of industry experience each, and they know their sectors inside and out.

We get to know our clients, gaining an understanding of a business, their employee value proposition and their company values, so that we can find the right candidate for their business turning their roles round as quickly as we can.

We have made over 7000 placements across a variety of Engineering and Manufacturing businesses, both contract and permanent, with many coming back to us time and time again. This is due to the brilliant relationship we have forged with both our clients and candidates. This is shown in our reviews on Trustpilot, where we are proud to be rated Excellent, and the number one engineering and manufacturing recruitment agency on the platform.
