Job description
We are currently working with a client of ours who is a global leading machinery manufacturer specialising in Special purpose machinery in the FMCG industry, based in Accrington. They are looking for a Technical Writer to join the business. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years technical writing experience, as well as software knowledge with Adobe FrameMaker/ Adobe Illustrator or QuarkXPress.
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining the control and delivery of technical documentation on all product lines for internal and external use. You will be part of the quality division in a team of 8, in a stand stand-alone role reporting to the Quality Manager. Your day-to-day responsibilities will consist of the following:
- Create, maintain, control and timely delivery of technical documentation manuals, in accordance with CE and UKCA compliance. Build-books, Safety bulletins, etc. for use by external customers, production, and field service teams.
- Coordinate translation of technical documentation as needed and archiving/retrieval of technical documentation.
- Update documentation as directed and archive per procedure.
- Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users' understanding.
- Revise documents as new issues arise.
- Post digital documents to online portal for customer retrieval.
- Work closely with Global teams to ensure consistency of documentation production, format, and content.
You will be directing staff for the duration of a project and clearly communicate work expectations. Exhibit ownership, demonstrate follow through and be held accountable for project completion and success. Ideally you will be degree qualified or possess relevant qualifications/ experience. Knowledge of Machinery and machinery legislation is also desirable, but not essential.
This is an on-site role with flexible working available. In return you will receive a Salary between £32-£35k DOE. 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays and a discretionary annual bonus.
