Technical Author/Document Controller, Basic is dependent on experience, Permanent position

Working hours are standard days, 37,5hrs a week, Mon-Thurs, 8:15 to 4:30, Fri, 8:15 to 3:15, Need to be flexible

The role will be working within the wider team of Engineering with the overall aim of producing high quality Technical Manuals in accordance with customer specifications, project and regulatory requirements for equipment within the Company product range under the guidance of Senior Engineers.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:
* Identify documentation requirements from project specifications and from discussions with Senior Project Engineers.
* Plan the document structure and content to ensure clear and logical Technical Manuals are produced.
* Deliver Technical Manuals for Engineering Governance, within agreed timescales and to agreed company / group and customer acceptable quality standards.
* Collect and incorporate information from outside suppliers.
* Provide regular updates on the progress of all Technical Manuals.
* Manipulate drawings, illustrations and data for documentation creation.
* Interrogate project databases and registers for source data.
* Keep records of all projects and maintain electronic versions on company server for each departments use.
* Liaison with outside translation company required as production of Foreign Language Technical Manuals is required.
* Ordering of consumables for production of Technical Manuals.

Knowledge / Experience / Qualifications:
* At least 2 Years as a Technical Author or similar role involving production of technical documentation.
* Good level of awareness / knowledge of mechanical / electrical / hydraulic / automation & control engineering disciplines would be advantageous but not essential.
* Experience of desktop publishing software.
* Excellent IT skills with expert knowledge of MS Office Word / Excel / Access / Outlook (email), Adobe Acrobat, Ventura Publisher 10 and SAP.
* Knowledge of MS-Word based Editorial Management system (Docuglobe) would be advantageous.

* Able to work under pressure, flexible to needs of the business and be self-motivated.
