We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Draughtsman to work with a large UK manufacturer which produces & exports factory cranes, gantry cranes & hoists. Up to 75% of construction sites in the UK use cranes & hoists manufactured by our client for bespoke and large-scale projects. The company is a global leader with a wide client portfolio across multiple industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Construction, Green Energy, Ship & Boat, Plastics, Metals just to name a few.
You will be responsible for interpreting sales documentation, creating general arrangement drawings, and producing detailed manufacturing drawings for cranes and related equipment. This position offers a varied role working across departments, ensuring smooth project delivery from design to manufacturing. You will report to the Principal Mechanical Engineer and get the opportunity to work on new and exciting technical drawing projects.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in mechanical or design engineering, looking to develop their technical drawing skills further. If you enjoy working in an engineering environment, collaborating across departments, and delivering precise technical designs, this position will suit you well. The job would also be a good fit for those with experience in CAD systems and engineering workflows, especially if you are customer-focused and willing to engage in site visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret sales specifications to create General Arrangement drawings for cranes and hoists.
- Conduct customer site visits when necessary to ensure accuracy in the general arrangement process.
- Identify components and materials to enter into the company's MRP system for production.
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and release them for crane and hoist manufacturing.
- Liaise effectively with the sales, manufacturing teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure technical support and smooth order processing.
