Job description

Talk of the engineering town is growth. Companies are talking about record orders, they're looking at more staff and they're putting pressure on their people to get results. But are they really investing in the business, or are you seeing this as a quick fix to a busy market?

Look around you, what has been upgraded? Any of the equipment? The software? Are you still using the same processes without any consideration for the future?

If you're stuck in groundhog day with no chance of progression, why not look for a company who are putting their money where their mouth is. Our client recently bought out a new unit next door, so they are able to provide fabrication rather than outsourcing it. They have brought in a new Ops manager and the processes are continually looked at from a lean perspective, and there is actual continuous improvement rather than just lip service towards it. With new business coming through comes new Project Managers, better equipment and a really proactive attitude.

Now they're looking for design engineers to help cope with their increased orders. Working with Global brands in the FMCG industry, which is their core sector, but also establishing themselves as a presence in nuclear and chemicals against some large clients in the market, the scope for expansion has not been lost on them.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Using Solidworks on a day to day, designing bespoke systems

  • Design Calculations for air flow, system loading and pressure drops

  • Providing Detailed designs for manufacturing and fabrication, including precision machined components, with a focus on tolerance and surface finishes

  • Reverse Engineering

In return you'll receive a salary of circa £35,000 for just a 34 hour week, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays and an annual discretionary bonus.

So look around, is all the pressure being put on you, or are you looking for a business who are looking to develop the whole company rather than just broaden your shoulders. If so, get in touch today with Mark Dorey on mark.dorey@emp-sol.com
