SALES MANAGER

Fancy working with us? Employment Solutions is the leading specialist engineering recruitment company in the north west of England. Established in 2001, our vision is to serve the specialist recruitment needs of manufacturing, engineering and construction companies in the North West.


Following a MBO in 2007, the company has continued to thrive and to deliver record levels of revenue, productivity and profitability with the current financial year (to March 2017) likely to deliver a turnover of over £13m and GP close to £2m, with a healthy 75%/25% split of contract and perm. We are currently building a three-year strategic plan with a goal to double turnover over the next four years. To assist with this level of growth, we have invested heavily in a number of areas:

  • Our office, in Bury, has currently undertaken a significant refurbishment and now provides us with more space, professionalism, and environment in which to grow and succeed.
  • We have invested in a new CRM (Bullhorn) and Management Information System (Insight Squared) as a route to ensuring we have the appropriate foundations to our systems, processes, and analysis. Too many recruitment companies fail to deliver on their growth plans as a result of a lack of investment in these areas and we are determined to avoid this mistake.
  • We have appointed an experienced Non-Executive Director who has over 30 years in the recruitment sector, including 12 years as a CEO. He will use all his expertise and knowledge to assist us in successfully managing our growth journey.
  • We have appointed a Sales Director to take day to day responsibility for the revenue, profitability, and growth of the business with a key focus on increasing permanent revenue.

We are now seeking to appoint a Sales Manager who will be responsible for increasing contract revenue and actively winning new business along with management and development of a team of two. The role will report to the Sales Director and work closely with the Managing Director and Sales Director to formulate key target plans for contract generation. This is a non-billing position and will be part of the Senior Management Team.

THE ROLE

The purpose of the Job:

  • Responsible for the growth of new contract business
  • Strong focus on Business Development and new tenders / PSLs
  • Manage, mentor and develop a team of consultants
  • Driving peak performance and sales success
  • Contribute to the general strategy of the contract business

Main Responsibilities and Responsibilities

Management

  • Accountability for the contract team's delivery, strategy, and motivation
  • Creating, negotiating and closing commercial agreements
  • Grow new and existing sales and develop customer relationships and secure new sales opportunities
  • Ensures the highest standard of quality at all times
  • Build strong management infrastructure within your division
  • Responsible for hiring, training, developing and retaining staff
  • Responsible for completion of the team's staff appraisals
  • Key/lead motivator for the contract division
  • Responsible for headcount growth in line with business plan/budget

Sales Activity

  • Develop and fulfill an agreed business plan, sales strategy, financial budget and sales target across the contract division
  • Creating, negotiating and closing commercial agreements
  • Grow new and existing sales and develop customer relationships and secure new sales
  • Meet/exceed sales targets in line with the divisional budget
  • Identify high volume contract clients within blue collar Engineering
  • New business generation for the division
  • Develop existing business and maintains key client relationships
  • Regularly attend client meetings and presentations
  • Responsible for new RFI, Bids, Tenders etc

Strategy

  • Ensuring the strategic plan is relevant, timely and being achieved at all times
  • Take the business into contract Engineering markets where appropriate the opportunity exists
  • Present target client plans at Senior management meetings
  • Identify cross selling opportunities with the Sales Director within new verticals and markets

THE INDIVIDUAL

You will be a middle/senior manager in a recruitment business with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a contract led environment. You will have started life in the industry as a Consultant and have worked your way to sales management level. Specifically, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong sales experience at Senior level with the ability to present effectively to clients and win new business
  • An understanding of the challenges facing the industry at present and illustrate a knowledge of the operational attention that will be required to succeed within the industry
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Exemplary performance and attitude standards within the team
  • High levels of Motivation and lead the team to perform to a high standard
  • The ability to manage conflict effectively
  • Excellent time management skills, meeting deadline and targets
  • Accurate planning and organising skills
  • The ability to work productively in a high-pressure environment and keep emotions under control during difficult situations
  • Credibility with clients to ensure long term business relationships are built
  • Responsibility and ownership for meeting all business objectives
