I'm working with a signalling design and consultancy business who provide specialist products and services, and have strong growth ambitions both in the UK and overseas.

They are looking for two Software Engineers to help the business realise their ambitious growth plans.

Working out of their South Manchester, your role will be to design and implement new and innovative solutions for signalling and train control systems and products in the field of railway engineering.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a desire to produce innovative design solutions will all be critical in this role.

From a technical standpoint you will be writing software for PC applications using the C# language, writing firmware for embedded systems using the C language, and writing unit-test software.

You'll also be contributing ideas to the design of systems, software and firmware, participating in "code reviews" of your own work and that of colleagues, and participating in hands on testing.

You'll be able to accurately contribute to estimates of work-load, conduct product related training activities, and supporting and coaching junior members of the team to help develop their skills.

In this role you'll need to have extensive experience working with high-level microprocessors - up to 32 bit (all considered), have a strong knowledge of hardware integration and exposure to DSP technology would be advantageous.

You'll also have strong experience developing applications for complex problems a good understanding of one or more back end programming languages and some interest in machine learning/big data would be a big help.

Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (version control, tooling, testing, etc. and the ability to write clean code effectively would be perfect!

Applicants must be educated to degree level in an Engineering discipline i.e. electrical/electronic or software engineering, and must have previous experience of demonstrating their ability in a work environment.
