Job Description

Purchasing Manager required by my local market leading client. You will Responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing key vendors. Perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of expenditure, continually seeking improved rates and source most profitable suppliers whilst ensuring no diminution of quality levels.
Managing suppliers proactively.
Source materials & services against operational & technical specifications.
Engage with suppliers on advice regarding alternative products that are available to contain or reduce costs.
Ensure that the supplier (or suppliers) has the capacity to meet our onward demands.
Set up & maintain a preferred supplier database.
Categorise suppliers in terms of spend &/or criticality.
Request bids or quotes to be proffered against the operational & technical specifications - including volume information.
Seek, in cooperation with end user, wherever viable, generic more cost effective materials.
Obtain quantity forecasts to enable proper negotiation on forward purchasing & bulk discounts.
Ensure that suppliers meet required accreditation standards (in liaison with Compliance & Audit)
Carry out replenishment of standard stock items- in conjunction with Stock Control Manager.
Monitor performance of suppliers on meeting delivery targets.
Liaise with end users on quality assurance sampling and report back to supplier.
Produce reports on supplier performance.
Keep a watchful eye on raw material commodity prices to ensure that those components that contain these materials are priced accordingly.
For business continuity purposes create a primary supplier listing that reduces the risk to the business if a supplier should discontinue trading.
Wherever possible identify secondary suppliers.
Monitoring the supplier database to ensure all suppliers are active.
Periodical review of market prices to ensure competitive prices are being paid.
Monitor ordering patterns.
Liaise with the Logistics Manager on appraising the stock inventory, especially slow moving & irregular moving stock items.
Raising purchase orders.
