Purchase Ledger Clerk, FTC(Maternity Cover), Upto £20k Dependent on experience.

Day shift - Mon-Thurs 8am-4:30pm, Fri 8am-1pm

This is an excellent opportunity to work for a modern Aerospace Company.

The successful candidate will be working with part of their small Finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager and working alongside the wider finance team in ensuring the efficient and smooth running of the finance function. The Purchase Ledger Clerk will be responsible for all basic accounting duties.

Main Duties:
Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Sort, code and match invoices
Set invoices up for payment
Enter and upload invoices into system
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
Prepare and perform bacs runs
Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons
Reconcile vendor statement, research and correct discrepancies
Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
Produce monthly intrastat reports
Assist with month end closing
Provide supporting documentation for audits
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Perform other duties as required to support Accounting Department
Process expenses and keep petty cash records


The successful candidate will need to have the following
Experience in high volume invoice transactions in a busy environment
Experience in Excel and Microsoft packages
Excellent communication skills, with an aptitude for numbers
Solid understanding of accounting process, with attention to detail and accuracy

Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner
Ability to work to deadlines
Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise confidently with external contacts
Solid organisational skills and ability to prioritise a varied workload
